Middle East: Hamas accepts conditions for Gaza ceasefire

The Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas announced this Friday that it had given a "positive" response to mediators on the latest ceasefire proposal in Gaza and is prepared to negotiate "immediately" its implementation.

Hamas "has concluded its internal consultations and with [other Palestinian forces] on the mediators' latest proposal to stop the aggression against our people in Gaza," the movement said in a statement, which attacked Israel on October 7, 2023, which responded by invading the Palestinian enclave.

The movement, considered terrorist by Israel and other countries, said it "presented its response to the mediators (...) positive, and is ready to immediately and seriously begin a round of negotiations on the mechanism to implement this structure".
