Small aircraft crashes in Lençóis Maranhenses, leaving two dead

A small plane crashed on Saturday afternoon (9), in the dunes of Lençóis Maranhenses , in Santo Amaro (MA), and left two dead. The victims were identified as pilot Victor Manoel Britto and Bruna Emanoely.

The aircraft had been missing since noon and was located in the dunes of Lençóis Maranhenses National Park in Santo Amaro, Maranhão. The discovery was made after a report by ICMBio (Chico Mendes Institute for Biodiversity Conservation) employees, who contacted the local fire department.
The plane belonged to Maranhão state deputy Francisco Nagib (PSB), who lamented the deaths in a post on his social network.
"My family and I are deeply saddened and shaken by the tragic accident involving an aircraft I own. I express my deepest condolences to the families of the victims, especially the Britto family, for the irreparable loss of their son," he said.
There is still no information on the time of the accident. The victims were initially taken to the Santo Amaro hospital. Their bodies were later taken to the São Luís Forensic Medical Institute (IML) for further processing.
The information was confirmed by the Maranhão Military Police and the local Fire Department. The cause of the accident is still unknown and remains under investigation by authorities.
