Trump says Ukraine peace deal could come within weeks

US President Donald Trump said on Monday that the war in Ukraine could end "within weeks" and added that his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky could visit the White House this week or next to sign a deal on rare earth minerals.

In a meeting with the President of France, Trump said there would be a final agreement on minerals and other issues, adding that a meeting with Vladimir Putin would also take place soon.

Macron sought to persuade Trump to stand by Kiev, insisting that Ukraine "has to be involved" in talks between Washington and Moscow.
