18-year-old arrested for domestic violence

An 18-year-old man was arrested on Thursday and is in preventive detention on suspicion of domestic violence against his partner, who was attacked and locked in a residence in the Greater Lisbon area, the PSP revealed this Saturday.
The suspect's arrest followed a call for help from the victim, which resulted in the "prompt intervention of the police", said the Public Security Police (PSP), noting that the calls for help were audible from outside the house.
"Given the imminent risk to the victim's physical integrity, as well as the suspect's refusal to open the door, the police acted immediately, forcing entry into the residence," the PSP's Lisbon Metropolitan Command said in a statement.
Upon entering the home, the police found that the victim, the suspect's partner, was "deprived of her freedom" by being locked in the master bedroom, "where she was attacked."
According to the PSP, it was necessary to break down the bedroom door to access the interior, where the victim and the suspect were.
“In addition to the obvious signs of violence,” the police found in the couple’s bedroom “a replica firearm, ten 12-gauge cartridges and a sharp weapon with a blade of approximately 30 centimeters,” which were seized.
After his arrest on Thursday, the suspect of domestic violence, an 18-year-old citizen, was brought before the first judicial interrogation and was subject to the coercive measure of preventive detention, the PSP reported.
