Ecuador draws with Uruguay in Copa América opener

In a very exciting match, Ecuador drew 2-2 with Uruguay in the opening match of the Copa América women's football tournament, on Friday night (11) at the Banco Guayaquil Stadium, in Quito.

Thanks to this result, both the Ecuadorians and the Uruguayans occupy the lead of Group A of the competition with just one point won.
Even playing as visitors, Uruguay opened the scoring in the 11th minute of the first half, when striker Belén Aquino, who plays for Internacional, hit a left-footed shot from outside the area that ended up in the corner of the goal defended by goalkeeper Morán.
In the 20th minute, Ecuador came very close to equalizing when midfielder Cedeño took a free kick with great skill from the edge of the box, and the ball hit the crossbar.

Celeste extended their lead in the 7th minute of the second half, when center forward Pamela González showed composure to score a beautiful penalty goal.
However, in the 26th minute, Ecuador managed to pull one back. Midfielder Cedeño lifted the ball into the opponent's box from a free kick, and defender Yannel Correa headed it into her own net. Six minutes later, the Ecuadorians sealed the victory. Emily Arias, who came on at halftime, pounced on a cross into the box and fired a first-time shot past goalkeeper Agustina Sánchez.
