Miguel Oliveira says he needs to improve his qualifications

Portuguese rider Miguel Oliveira warns that it is necessary to “improve in qualifying” so that Yamaha can “show its true potential” at the San Marino MotoGP Grand Prix, taking place this weekend.
In statements reproduced by the Prima Pramac press office, the Portuguese driver warns that “the Misano circuit has much more grip than the one in Barcelona”, where last weekend he achieved his best result of the season, with a 10th place in Saturday's sprint race and a ninth in the main race on Sunday.
“We arrived after a good result and the objective is to maintain that potential,” he stressed, in relation to this weekend's race, the 16th of the season.
The Almada-born rider, who will leave Yamaha at the end of this season, warns that, “to achieve this, we need to improve our qualifying, especially our ability to do a fast lap.”
"Right now, that's what's been preventing us from showing our true potential. I can't wait to get on the track and get to work," Oliveira concluded.
The 30-year-old has already reached the podium twice at this circuit. In 2015, when he was racing in Moto3, he finished second, the same result he achieved in 2017, now in Moto2. In MotoGP, his best result is fifth place, achieved in 2020.
After 15 races, Miguel Oliveira is in 21st place, with 17 points, in a championship led by Spaniard Marc Márquez (Ducati), who has 487.
This is the last race on European soil before the Asian round (Japan, Indonesia, Australia and Malaysia), which precedes the Portuguese GP, in the Algarve, from November 7th to 9th, and the final race, in Valencia, from the 14th to the 16th.
