The New York Stock Exchange opened trading this Tuesday in negative territory, with the Nasdaq leading the declines.
Thus, the Dow Jones lost 1.18% to 45,523.79 points, the S&P 500 lost 1.38% to 6,563.04 points, and the technological Nasdaq fell 1.88% to 22,268 points.
According to Millenium market analyst Ramiro Loureiro, "Wall Street starts off on a low note, on the day that marks the official start of the third-quarter earnings season, with the banks in strong form – Citi, Wells Fargo, JPMorgan and Goldman Sachs all released their figures."
"Additionally, J&J, Blackrock, and Domino's Pizza will also be reacting to their results. Moreover, companies linked to the rare earths sector, such as MP Materials, USA Rare, Critical Metals, and Energy Fuels, are once again showing strong gains, at a time when the US-China dispute over rare earths appears to be intensifying. Navitas Semiconductor is also soaring, after showcasing its GaN devices that will power NVIDIA's AI architecture," the expert noted.
