Women's table tennis team secures bronze at European Championships

Portugal won the bronze medal in the women's European table tennis team competition, after losing 3-0 to Germany in the semi-finals.
The women's team, ranked fourth in Europe, had already secured a medal on Friday, securing their place in the semi-finals of the competition, taking place in Zadar, Croatia, and this Saturday they were defeated by the Germans, European leaders.

Fu Yu was the first to enter the match, losing 3-2 to Sabine Winter, with scores of 8-11, 11-4, 8-11, 11-4 and 11-2.
Afterwards, Jieni Shao was defeated by Annett Kaufmann (11-8, 11-9, 8-11 and 11-4) and Matilde Pinto by Nina Mittelham (10-12, 11-6, 11-9 and 11-8).
This is the fourth consecutive medal for the Portuguese women's table tennis team at the European Team Championships, after the silver medal won in Nantes 2019 and the bronze medals won in Cluj-Napoca 2021 and Malmö 2023.
On Thursday, the women's and men's teams, which 'fell' in the quarter-finals, secured their place at the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in London.
