PoderData survey confirms increase in Lula's approval rating after tariff hike

Following AtlasIntel , Quaest , and Ipespe , another pollster has reported an improvement in approval ratings for Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva's (Workers' Party) administration following the backlash against Donald Trump's tariff hike . A survey released Wednesday, the 30th, by PoderData shows that voters are more willing than they were two months ago, although the overall outlook remains negative for the administration.
According to the survey published this Wednesday, 42% of voters approve of Lula's work, while 53% disapprove. The 11-percentage-point difference is significantly smaller than the 17-percentage-point gap recorded in May (before the tariff hike announcement). According to PoderData, Lula's disapproval ratings have exceeded his approval ratings since mid-2024. See below:
The survey also showed an improvement in personal assessments of the president's performance (not the administration's as a whole). The number of people who consider Lula's performance "bad" or "terrible" still exceeds those who consider it "excellent" or "good" (41% versus 22%), but, as with the administration, the gap has also been longer. PoderData interviewed 2,500 people across 27 states and the Federal District between July 26 and 28. The margin of error is plus or minus two percentage points.
