Suspect arrested in Amadora for several crimes in the country

A 27-year-old man, suspected of several crimes in different areas of the country, and of having attempted to run over two police officers in March, was arrested in Amadora, Lisbon, the PSP reported this Saturday.
In a statement sent to the Lusa news agency, the police force said that the man is in preventive detention, after having been present at the first judicial interrogation.
According to the PSP, the suspect was arrested on Thursday night , in flagrante delicto, after entering and stealing objects from inside the Conde da Lousã Basic School, in the parish of Mina de Água, Amadora.
"This suspect has caused significant social alarm among the population and contributed to the degradation of the community's sense of security," the PSP stressed in the same statement.
The security force added that the 27-year-old man has "a vast criminal history" and is suspected "of a huge wave of crimes throughout the country, including robbery, theft from commercial establishments, theft from vehicles, possession of prohibited weapons, vehicle theft, drug trafficking, aggravated assault, resistance and coercion against an employee and dangerous driving."
According to the PSP, in March of this year, while fleeing in a stolen vehicle in Coimbra, the suspect “purposely crashed into two police vehicles and attempted to run over two police officers”.
On Thursday, authorities were alerted to a theft inside a school and intercepted the man as he fled on foot on a street near the scene of the theft, after having hidden items taken from the school in an abandoned house nearby.
The PSP detailed that the suspect entered the school “through the escalation method, stealing several objects belonging to the school's teachers and escaping through the classroom window”.
“It was also possible to seize further evidence related to other thefts that the suspect allegedly committed on the same day,” the security force revealed.
