Criminal association. PJ arrests man wanted in Spain

The Judicial Police arrested in the West region a man wanted by Spanish authorities on suspicion of leading a criminal organization involved in drug trafficking, robberies and attacks on other drug traffickers, one of the most serious of which was his involvement in the murder of a member of another organization in Barcelona two years ago.

According to the PJ in a statement, the man, aged 40 and a foreign national, was arrested under a European arrest warrant and is suspected of committing the crimes of criminal association and homicide in Spanish territory.

The Judiciary details that the detainee is the “presumed mastermind behind the death of a member of a rival criminal group, the victim of a shooting that took place in a parking lot in February 2023, in the province of Barcelona, Spain.”

The man was, however, brought before the Lisbon Court of Appeal and ordered to await the next steps in the extradition process in preventive detention.
