Sales of moonshine stills and home brewing kits have jumped by a third this year in Russia, but interest in making tinctures has fallen by 16%, analysts at ATOL Online calculated for RIA Novosti after comparing fiscal data from their database for January-May last year and this year. "Sales of moonshine stills have grown by 37%. At the same time, the average purchase price of a still has decreased by 2% - to 8,898 rubles," the materials report. Beer making kits, as noted, have become 35% more common, while tincture making kits - on the contrary, 16% less common. At the same time, the average bill for a beer kit was 1,758 rubles - plus 18% from 2024, and a tincture making kit - 1,411 rubles, which is 19% higher than last year's figures. On average, Russians bought hops for 320 rubles, which is 12% more expensive than in 2024, and demand for it increased by 14%. The data also showed that the average bill for alcohol meters to control the strength of the drink decreased over the same period by 8% - to 401 rubles. Demand for them increased by 52% compared to last year.
