Georgian Prime Minister Kobakhidze said authorities are trying to restore electricity supply in the west of the country

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stressed the importance of restoring electricity supply in areas of Western Georgia affected by snowfall, Rustavi 2 TV channel reported.
While in the Ozurgeti district, the head of government noted that many villages still remain without electricity. In this regard, in the coming days, he will actively work to fully restore electricity supply.
Kobakhidze expressed confidence that no more snowfalls are expected in the west of the country, which should facilitate rescue operations and road clearing.
On February 26, it became known that hundreds of firefighters and many units of special equipment are participating in the rescue operation in Western Georgia.
Heavy snowfall hit regions of Western Georgia on February 22. In Batumi, the snow depth exceeded 50 cm, and in mountainous Adjara, snowdrifts reached a meter. Due to worsening weather conditions in the region, public transport was suspended, and classes in schools and kindergartens were cancelled.
