During his visit to Kiev , German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul called Moscow's statements about its desire for peace a mockery and discussed Russian President Vladimir Putin's calculations regarding Ukraine . His words are quoted by RBC-Ukraine.
"Putin is counting on our attention waning, our attention shifting to new crises. And the last few weeks have shown this. And that is why I am saying it very clearly: Putin will not succeed in Germany and in relation to Germany," the German Foreign Minister emphasized.
Wadephul added that Berlin would continue to support Ukraine until the conflict was over. He expressed the opinion that Russia wanted to conquer the neighboring republic and sow fear throughout Europe, and all statements about the desire for peace were a "mockery" and "a mockery."
The head of the German Foreign Ministry arrived in Kiev on an official visit on June 30. “The freedom and future of Ukraine is the most important task of our foreign and security policy,” the minister said during the visit.
