Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a telephone conversation with the President of Azerbaijan

The President of Kazakhstan warmly congratulated Ilham Aliyev on the signing of the historic Declaration on the peaceful settlement of the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia in Washington with the active and effective assistance of US President Donald Trump.

Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted that this document was signed in accordance with the principles of international law and UN resolutions, therefore, it fully complies with the strategic interests of Azerbaijan and Armenia, and will also contribute to the development of broad international cooperation in the Caucasus. Kazakhstan, as a strategic partner of Azerbaijan, sincerely welcomes the establishment of long-awaited peace in the region.

The head of our state confirmed Astana's readiness to continue providing its platform for negotiations. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the increased authority of Azerbaijan in the international arena under the leadership of its leader, President Ilham Aliyev.

The interlocutors agreed to continue contacts at the highest level.

The head of Azerbaijan thanked for the congratulations, noting the historical significance of the signed agreement after many years of fruitless negotiations. He emphasized his country's interest in increasing multilateral cooperation with Kazakhstan.
