Israel's strike on the Qatari capital of Doha caught American military forces in the region off guard due to their focus on Iran, War Zone reports, citing Lieutenant General Derek France, commander of U.S. Air Forces Central Command (AFCENT). "The head of AFCENT confirmed that 'while we have excellent systems and things that can detect a lot of different things, they are usually focused on Iran and other directions from which we expect attacks,'" the portal writes. According to him, the US military learned of the Israeli strike only after it was already underway, calling the situation a lesson for the American army. The magazine also recalls that White House Press Secretary Carolyn Levitt stated that US President Donald Trump was warned by the US military about the impending strike and informed the Qatari leadership about it. On September 9, Israel launched several strikes on a building in a residential area in central Doha, where a Hamas leadership delegation was meeting to discuss the latest US ceasefire proposal in the Gaza Strip. According to the Qatari Ministry of Interior, an employee of the emirate's internal security forces was killed in the strikes, and several security personnel and civilians were wounded.
