The court hearings were held behind closed doors. The state prosecution insists on sentencing Ivanov to 14.5 years in a general regime penal colony, and another defendant, Anton Filatov, to 14 years in a penal colony. The prosecutor also demanded that Ivanov's property be turned over to the state.

Civil claims have been filed as part of the process. The Main Directorate for Troops Arrangement insists on the recovery of 216 million rubles, and the Deposit Insurance Agency demands compensation of 3.9 billion rubles.

The trial began in the Moscow City Court in the final ten days of March, RIA Novosti reports.

Timur Ivanov is accused of embezzling over 216 million rubles. The illegal actions are related to the purchase of two ferries for the Kerch ferry and cashing out over 3.9 billion rubles from Interkommerts Bank. The accused denies his guilt.
