The Swindler from the East

A pensioner from Petropavlovsk decided to trick a hot, handsome doctor into giving her gifts, but unexpectedly became the victim of a scam.
The 64-year-old woman met the love of her life online in November. The respectable man introduced himself as a doctor, behaved politely and said a lot of compliments - what every woman wants to hear at any age. The lady turned out to be in a relationship. But can a husband and distance get in the way of two burning hearts?!
The rich Turkish citizen was ready to lay the whole world at the feet of his chosen one. After a week of dating, he was already promising untold riches and a life like in paradise. The pensioner, of course, was not at a loss and was ready to accept generous gifts.
- He said that he wanted to send her a parcel. He asked her to write her home address. The man said that he had sent gifts and they should arrive the next day. The woman was surprised that it was so fast. But that's where the problems began, - said Milena BALATSKAYA, senior detective of the regional PD's cybercrime department.
The woman received a letter from a supposedly transport company asking her to pay customs clearance fees - 250 thousand tenge. Otherwise, the goods would be lost. At that time, the generous Turk wrote that he had sent gold jewelry and 20 thousand dollars as a gift to his beloved.
Of course, the woman did not want to lose all this and transferred 250 thousand tenge through a bank terminal. But this was only the beginning. The “transport company” did not send the treasured and very expensive gift. The “Turkish groom” was also worried.
- They continued to ask her for transfers, either for insurance or again for customs clearance. She transferred another 440 thousand tenge in two tranches. Thus, in three months the victim lost 690 thousand tenge, - added Milena Balatskaya.
In February, the generous “doctor” stopped communicating. The woman first became worried about him, and then about herself when she realized that she had been taken for a ride. The representatives of the “transport company” who allegedly had a parcel with money and jewelry stuck in their hands also stopped communicating. And then the pensioner filed a complaint with the police.
- A criminal case has been opened on this fact. Expert examinations have been ordered, and inquiries are being sent to the bank, - the police reported.
And such cases are not uncommon, say law enforcement officers. Very often, mature women, especially single ones, become victims of handsome men who promise them hot Turkish nights and tell them oriental tales.
