The youngest city in Russia is considered to be Oyskhara in the Chechen Republic. This is what Rosreestr called it, RIA Novosti reports.
According to the State Catalogue of Geographical Names, the settlement acquired the status of a city quite recently - in 2023. Taking into account the law of the Chechen Republic of December 15, 2023, the status of Oyskhara was changed from a village to a city.
According to RANEPA , 129 small towns in Russia are under threat of disappearing. These are populated areas with a total population of approximately 3.4 million people. Over the past ten years, their population has decreased by 314 thousand people. The disappearance of cities can also be explained by a decrease in employment in them, as well as a reduction in the number of small and medium-sized businesses.
State Duma deputies decided to consider a ban on the construction of multi-story apartment buildings in populated areas with a deficit of transport, housing and communal services and social infrastructure. The bill proposes to define populated areas with a deficit of transport, housing and communal services and social infrastructure - namely, those in which the presence of the designated elements does not meet the needs of the population.
