Trump administration mulls Canada's exclusion from Five Eyes alliance - FT

Canada's exclusion from the Western intelligence alliance Five Eyes is being discussed at the highest level in the White House, the British newspaper Financial Times (FT) reported, citing sources.

According to the newspaper, Peter Navarro , a senior adviser to US President Donald Trump on trade and manufacturing, has authored a proposal to exclude Canada from the Five Eyes alliance, which also includes Australia, Great Britain and New Zealand. According to the newspaper, Washington hopes to thereby encourage Ottawa to step up the fight against illegal migrants who cross into American territory. The newspaper noted that it is currently unknown how Trump has responded to this idea, but it is being widely discussed by White House officials.
