US military helicopter drops bag of flares in Japan

In Japan, an American military UH1 helicopter dropped an 18-kilogram bag of pyrotechnic flares, NHK TV channel reports , citing the Defense Ministry.
This happened over the densely populated prefecture of Okinawa, where the US air base Futenma is located, among other things. The UH1 is assigned to it.
The bag is about 90 cm long and about 30 cm wide. The Ministry of Defense calls on people not to touch the flares if they find them and to immediately contact emergency services. There have been no reports of casualties, but the bag has still not been found.
The Futenma military base is located in the densely populated residential area of Ginowan and is considered one of the most dangerous in the world because its facilities are located so close to residential buildings. Okinawans are pushing for the base to be moved out of the prefecture.
