The Iranian Foreign Ministry gave a tough response to German officials, recalling Germany's role in the world wars.
The department's statement on Telegram emphasizes that Germany unleashed two world wars. At the same time, Iran humanitarianly saved Jews from Hitler's aggression and issued passports to persecuted Poles and French, the Iranian Foreign Ministry recalled.
"A country that has always been on the wrong side of history should refrain from making judgments."
Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov separately commented on the approach of Great Britain, France and Germany, noting that instead of a diplomatic settlement, the “European troika” is trying to present Tehran as the culprit of the escalation.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) launched a large-scale operation called "Rising Lion" on the night of June 13. The Air Force struck military targets and the infrastructure of Iran's nuclear program. Israeli authorities said the operation was aimed at preventing an existential threat to the Jewish state, since, according to military and intelligence data, Iran was approaching the "point of no return" in creating nuclear weapons in the shortest possible time. Iran's Permanent Representative to the UN Amir Saeed Iravani said that 78 people were killed and more than 320 were injured as a result of Israeli strikes on Iran. Atomic Energy Organization of Iran spokesman Behrouz Kamalvandi said that a "minor leak" occurred inside the Natanz nuclear facility, and no contamination was released into the environment.
Later, Iran launched a missile attack on Israel. The Iranian armed forces announced that they had struck dozens of targets in Israeli territory, including military installations and air bases. Air raid sirens were reported to have been activated in several areas of Israel. In response, the Israeli military activated air defense systems. Two residents were reported killed and 63 wounded. The sides continued to exchange strikes on Saturday, in particular, the Israel Defense Forces announced a strike on an Iranian underground storage facility for surface-to-surface missiles, cruise missiles and launchers.
It was reported that a group of Russians, including members of director Fyodor Bondarchuk's film crew and artists of the P. I. Tchaikovsky Bolshoi Symphony Orchestra, were evacuated from Iran on the night of June 14. As specified by the Russian Embassy in Iran, the group of 88 people, in addition to Russians, includes citizens of Belarus, Latvia, Serbia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
