Car explosion in Konya! 3-month-old Mustafa and his aunt lost their lives

The incident occurred at around 17:30 near the Selcuk University Medical Faculty Hospital in the Akademi Neighborhood of the central Selcuklu district. Allegedly, an explosion occurred in the car with the license plate 42 D 9030, in which the family was leaving the Selcuk University Medical Faculty Hospital. Fire, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification. The flames were extinguished by the intervention of fire crews.

It was determined that 3-month-old Mustafa Çakmak and his aunt Rabia Yıldız (18), who were in the car during the explosion, lost their lives at the scene. Mother Fatma Çakmak (22) and her husband Halil Çakmak were injured. The injured parents were taken to Selçuk University Medical Faculty Hospital by ambulance.

DISCHARGED FROM THE NEONATAL CLINIC
It was learned that before the explosion, Fatma and Halil Çakmak couple had set off for home with their 3-month-old baby Mustafa, who had been discharged from the neonatal ward where he was receiving treatment. According to initial findings, the explosion was caused by an oxygen tank in the car. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
