CHP leader Özel speaks
Taking the floor at his party's weekly group meeting in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, CHP Chairman Özgür Özel briefly said the following:
"We won 15 of the 17 municipalities we nominated in this election in Manisa. We won all together and we will continue to win all together. Banu, greetings to all district chairmen who made this happen. We also visited and received political parties this week. We confirmed our consensus on being united and together in this period when the opposition is being tried to be divided and there are attacks. We also announced it to the press members.
We explained how we would practice how we would protect the ballot boxes in May and June, and how we compiled the data. We benefited from each other's valuable opinions. Today, with the awareness that CHP is the number one party in Turkey, we are determined to continue our struggle without pushing anyone away, without isolating anyone, and without ever falling into arrogance.
We stand shoulder to shoulder with everyone who has love for the country, flag, nation and state, and who respects the founding cadre of this country. We underline in bold lines that the salvation of this country will be with Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
I visited the Chairman of the Victory Party, Mr. Ümit Özdağ. While we were having dinner in Ankara, we said that the person who detained him from Istanbul, held him until morning and arrested him was unauthorized. He also knew that he was unauthorized, he arrested him because of an incident in Kayseri. We witnessed a reputation assassination against a distinguished chairman. This is the cowardice and helplessness of the person at the top. During the same visit, we visited journalist Suat Toktaş, Esenyurt Mayor Ahmet Özer, Tayfun Kahraman and all our friends.
If someone in Turkey is hurting, there is someone next to him, and that is the Republican People's Party. The ant has a brother, and his name is the Republican People's Party.
We visited shopkeepers in Erzircan and heard a thousand sighs.
