Explosion in Rome! 10 injured

An explosion has occurred at a gas station in Rome, the capital of Italy. At least 10 people, including firefighters and police officers, were injured in the explosion, with minor burns and injuries from broken glass.

It was emphasized that the windows of the surrounding buildings were broken and damaged due to the explosion, and that black smoke that could be seen from every part of the city continued to rise.

Some eyewitnesses reported that firefighters who responded to the fire that broke out after the first explosion at the gas station and police officers who tried to ensure security in the area were injured by the second explosion that followed.

METRO LINE SERVICES HAVE BEEN STOPPED

It was reported that there may be injuries among those living in residences near the gas station, that the explosion caused concern in the area and that some buildings were evacuated.

On the other hand, it was stated that services on metro line C passing through the region were stopped due to the explosion.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also shared the following regarding the explosion in Rome from her X account:

"I am closely following the developments regarding the explosion that occurred this morning at a gas station in the Prenestino district of Rome. I have spoken with the Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, and I am in constant contact with the Undersecretary of the Prime Ministry, Alfredo Mantovano, and the relevant authorities to monitor developments. I express my sympathy to all those injured, including law enforcement officers, firefighters and healthcare workers, and extend my sincere thanks to those involved in rescue and security operations."
