Insect but very meaningful... Name: Neslihanae
Prof. Dr. Levent Gültekin, who is also the Founding Director of the Biodiversity Science Museum at the Ataturk University Biodiversity Application and Research Center, has been introducing new species he has discovered as a result of his research in nature for 25 years to the scientific world.

According to the news in AA, Gültekin, together with his doctoral advisor Dr. Sci. Boris Korotyaev from the Zoology Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, discovered a new insect species on Kop Mountain on the Erzurum-Bayburt highway approximately 5 years ago.

With Korotyaev's suggestion, it was decided to give the new species the name "neslihanae". Discovered as a result of approximately 5 years of research, the insect was introduced to the scientific world under the name "mogulones neslihanae".

Prof. Dr. Levent Gültekin stated that his wife, who is also his colleague, gave significant support to research and scientific studies, and said, "We named the species we collected in the Karakurt region of the Aras Valley on the Kop Mountain and Kars road and identified it with 3 instructors, upon the suggestion of my doctoral instructor, and announced it to the literature."

Stating that scientists make gestures by giving names to the new species they discover, Gültekin said that he also introduced the name and surname of his doctoral advisor Boris Korotyaev to the literature as an example of respect and loyalty by naming a new genus and species collected from Tanzania as "Borisius Korotyaevi".
Gültekin, who stated that it is not easy to describe new species for the literature and that it requires taxonomic knowledge, long-term effort and work, said, "We do not report the species we discover to the people whose names are given until they are published. Such things happen frequently in our lives. It makes us happy that the names of people who contribute to science are included in the literature. So far, 6 new species have been named 'leventi' or 'gultekini'."
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Neslihan Gültekin, who has been working at the Ataturk University Biodiversity Application and Research Center Biodiversity Science Museum for 5 years, explained that she did her master's degree in acarology and her doctorate in entomology.
Gültekin, who stated that he was carrying out studies in his fields of expertise at the center, said, "One of the founding purposes of the museum was the digitalization of insects. First, we ensure the digitalization of the samples borrowed from abroad. There are macro shooting units here, we first examine the insects with microscopes and then take macro shots."

Gültekin, who emphasized that he was happy that his wife and scientists gave his name to the insect species they discovered, noted the following:
"It is very enjoyable for an insect to be named after me, some people do not want this very much, but it is very important and a nice feeling to be included in the literature. Even if you die, your name will continue in the literature. People from all over the world will follow this and you will receive references, I am very happy for this. These are very valuable in taxonomy. I would like to thank my wife and scientists."
