Israel attacks Syria: 2 dead

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have launched an airstrike in southern Syria. The IDF said in a statement that several points housing command centers and ammunition depots have been targeted in the past few hours, adding that "military assets in southern Syria pose a threat to Israeli civilians. The IDF will continue its activities to eliminate threats to Israelis."
Syrian state television said Israeli warplanes struck the town of al-Qiswah, about 20 kilometers south of the capital Damascus. A Syrian security source said a military facility was targeted in the attack. Israel also reportedly carried out airstrikes on a town in Daraa province in southern Syria. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said two people were killed in attacks in the Damascus countryside.
Israel has been carrying out airstrikes on Iranian-backed forces and Syrian military positions in Syrian territory. According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, Israel has carried out 16 attacks on Syrian territory since the beginning of 2025.
