We are very close to the finish line to complete this agreement."
Leavitt noted that US President Donald Trump is ready to host Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy at the White House to "sign an agreement" or "visit" and said they will inform the public according to the latest developments.
In his latest statement on the subject, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denis Shmygal stated that the final draft of the agreement with the US, which envisages investment in rare earth elements, has been prepared, and said, "We do not intend to sign any agreement without guarantees."
FRANCE WANTS EUROPE TO BE AT THE TABLE IN UKRAINE NEGOTIATIONS
Bayrou, who visited the Paris International Agricultural Fair in the capital, expressed his concern about the ongoing Ukraine negotiations. Stating that they want peace regarding the Russia-Ukraine war but want a quick but not fragile agreement on this issue, Bayrou said that Europe should also be at the table in the Ukraine negotiations.
"For us, there will be no solution to Ukraine without Ukrainians, and there will be no solution to European security without Europeans," Bayrou said.
"Peace does not mean the surrender of Ukraine and cannot be achieved without ceasefire (security) guarantees," French President Emmanuel Macron said in a joint press statement with US President Donald Trump at the White House on February 24.
Macron said he was ready to "do more" for Europe's security and defense, adding, "I carry a clear message that Europe should be part of the security guarantees (for Ukraine)."
While Le Figaro newspaper saw the meeting between Macron and Trump with the headline "On Ukraine, Trump is trying to impose his line on Europeans", Le Monde newspaper used the headline "The meeting between Donald Trump and Emmanuel Macron in the White House shows that the distance between the allies is widening".
