She introduced herself as a single doctor and got engaged, then disappeared with her jewelry.

Dilara S., who lives in Konya, got engaged to TK in June 2022 after announcing she had just graduated from medical school. At the betrothal's insistence, her mother, Hacer S., exchanged a large amount of jewelry and cash. Shortly after the engagement, TK learned that his fiancée had married in January and broke up with her. Meanwhile, Dilara S. cashed in her engagement jewelry and disappeared with 140,000 Turkish Lira.

TK filed a criminal complaint alleging fraud. The Konya Chief Public Prosecutor's Office filed a lawsuit alleging that Dilara S. and her mother, Hacer S., were in cahoots and sought a prison sentence of one to five years for fraud. While Hacer S. claimed she was unaware her daughter was married at the time of her engagement, the prosecutor's office concluded that this was not part of normal life and was an attempt to escape the crime, concluding that they acted in concert.

Dilara S. claimed that her marriage was a formality, that the person she married was actually in love with her brother, and that she did this because he threatened her.

THEY DID NOT COVER THE DAMAGES

According to witness testimony presented before the judge, Dilara allegedly claimed to be a doctor and would pursue a master's degree abroad and received €9,500 from TK's mother, N.K. TK and her family reportedly suffered a total loss of €20,000 in the scam.

The mother and daughter, who failed to reimburse the damage, were sentenced to two years and six months in prison for "fraud," reduced for "good behavior," and fined 58,320 Turkish Lira. The court ordered the payment of this amount in 10 equal installments.
