Smoking bans are increasing! Smoking is banned in areas where children are present, the fine is 6 thousand TL!

France is enacting a new regulation that will ban smoking in all open areas where children may be present, effective July 1, 2025. Those who smoke in areas such as parks, beaches, bus stops and school surroundings will be fined 135 euros (approximately 6,000 TL).
In a statement, French Minister of Health and Family Catherine Vautrin emphasized that protecting children’s right to breathe clean air is a top priority. The new regulation aims to prevent smoking, especially around schools. However, the law does not cover cafe terraces and e-cigarette users. Regarding e-cigarettes, the ministry continues its work to reduce nicotine levels and limit flavor options.
Following France, neighboring countries are preparing to take similar steps. Spanish Health Minister Monica Garcia announced that they are working on a bill to ban smoking on outdoor terraces, nightclubs, swimming pools and university campuses. These regulations, which aim to reduce tobacco use across Europe, are becoming increasingly widespread in order to protect public health.
