The rich don't frequent the 'showplace'

The rich don't frequent the 'showplace'

Many truly wealthy people are surprisingly careful about where their money goes. Studies show that those in the middle class spend more on certain items associated with a luxurious lifestyle than those who are truly wealthy, such as luxury vehicles, expensive jewelry, and designer clothing.

■ New luxury vehicle : While the value of a new vehicle quickly declines, the wealthy don't hesitate to drive older, more economical models. A luxury vehicle carries far more expenses, such as taxes and expensive maintenance, beyond the initial purchase price, resulting in a significant loss of income.

THEY ARE NOT PURCHASED AND USED

■ Trendy kitchen appliances: Deep fryers, smart juicers, expensive espresso machines that sync with your phone... These products, bought mostly to show off , are never returned and are thrown away after just a few uses.

Premium airfare: Middle-class travelers often upgrade their airfare to feel like they've "made it," even if it means taking on more debt. But unless it's for a long flight, this is often an unnecessary expense.

STATUS SYMBOL

■ Expensive watches and jewelry: Unless they are rare collector's items, these items lose significant value. For the middle class, these items are seen as status symbols.

Trendy home decor: While the middle class often renovates their homes based on what's trending on apps like TikTok, the wealthy invest in timeless designs and let them sit for long periods. This proves much more profitable in the long run.

■ Expensive health products: From hundreds of lira worth of green juices to crystallized water bottles and weekly serums, the wellness industry targets the middle class. The wealthy spend money on quality nutrition, a good trainer, or a personal chef.

PLAIN PRODUCTS INSTEAD OF LOGO-STRIPPED CLOTHES

While the truly wealthy prefer simple products that don't display logos and make a difference with their fabric, the middle class tends to opt for flashy products that display big brands.

NEW PHONE EVERY YEAR

Most wealthy people don't bother buying a new phone unless the new technology genuinely improves their workflow. It's only within the middle class that it's considered a status symbol, and a significant portion of their income is invested in phones.
