Trump Announced: "We Will Sell Gold Cards"
While US President Donald Trump continues his efforts to prevent children born in the country from gaining citizenship, he announced that they will sell "golden cards" that will provide residence permits and citizenship rights to wealthy investors who will create jobs in the US.
US President Trump said in the Oval Office that the US will sell "gold cards" to wealthy foreigners for $5 million, giving them the right to live and work in the US and a path to US citizenship.
$5 MILLION CARD TO BE ON SALE IN TWO WEEKS"We're going to sell gold cards. You have a green card. It's a gold card. We're going to put a price tag on that card of about $5 million, and it will give you green card privileges, and it will also give you a path to citizenship. Rich people will buy this card and come to our country," Trump said.
Stating that rich people will buy this card and come to the United States, Trump said that these people will spend a lot of money, pay a lot of taxes and provide many jobs.
HE THINK IT WILL SELL MILLIONSTrump said sales of the "gold cards" would begin in about two weeks and that millions of such cards could be sold.
Asked if he would consider selling the cards to Russian oligarchs, Trump replied: "Yeah, probably. I know some Russian oligarchs who are very good people."
On the other hand, Congress sets the criteria for citizenship, but Trump said the "gold cards" would not require Congressional approval.
MINISTER OF TRADE: EB-5 IS NONSENSECommerce Secretary Howard Lutnick also called the EB-5 investor visa "nonsense" and argued that it was a way to get a green card at a low price.
According to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services data, the EB-5 investor visa program, created by Congress in 1992, grants green cards to immigrants who invest between $800,000 and $1 million in economically distressed areas. A green card gives holders the right to live and work in the U.S. indefinitely.
According to the US Department of Homeland Security, nearly 8,000 people received investor visas in the 12-month period ending September 30, 2022. On the other hand, the investor visa program is a widespread practice around the world. More than 100 countries around the world, including the US, UK, Spain, Greece, Malta, Australia, Canada and Italy, offer "golden visas" to wealthy investors.
