US federal agencies have been ordered to prepare for a major workforce reduction

Russell Vought, Director of the White House Office of Management and Budget , sent a statement to federal agencies in the United States on the subject.
The statement said President Trump has instructed heads of federal agencies to "prepare for massive workforce reductions."
The statement noted that federal agencies must submit their restructuring plans by March 13, and that "no new employment will be provided" to the positions of those laid off under the plan.
The statement said the federal government was "costly, inefficient and in debt" and included the following statements:
"It produces nothing that serves the American people. In fact, tax dollars benefit radical interest groups and are embezzled to fund inefficient and unnecessary programs that harm hard-working American citizens."
The statement noted that positions related to national security and the U.S. Postal Service are exempt from the guidelines.
