Joint investment signature for green electricity

Having signed an important collaboration for energy generation from renewable resources, Arçelik and TAV Airports are installing solar power plants (SPP) using Arçelik Energy Solutions products in the parking areas of Milas-Bodrum and İzmir Adnan Menderes airports, which TAV operates.
Arçelik Turkey General Manager Can Dinçer stated that the transition torenewable energy sources has become an important lever in the fight against the climate crisis, “This investment to be made in two airports is very valuable for us in terms of providing the opportunity to carry our renewable energy products and solutions to a wider area. Within the scope of the project, green electricity equivalent to the electricity consumption of approximately 5 thousand households will be produced annually, while 8 thousand tons of carbon emissions will be prevented. This is equal to the carbon emissions retained by approximately 370 thousand trees in a year. I believe that this project will also set an example for the sector.”
TAV Airports CEO Serkan Kaptan said, “We are implementing a comprehensive program to minimize the impact of our operations on the environment. We are working to ensure that all our airports become carbon neutral by 2030 and net zero emissions by 2050 at the latest. With this pilot project in Izmir and Bodrum using Arçelik’s solutions, we will meet approximately 30 percent of the airports’ energy consumption from renewable sources. We hope to expand this project to all our airports in the coming period.”
19 million kWh of electricity
Arçelik branded domestic production solar energy systems and solar energy carport systems are being installed in the open parking areas of Milas-Bodrum Airport and the indoor parking roofs and open parking areas of İzmir Adnan Menderes Airport.
The projects, which will have a total capacity of 12.53 MWp, aim to produce approximately 19 million kWh of green electricity annually with the installation of 21,081 Topcon technology solar panels. While Entek Elektrik will undertake the installation of the systems at Milas-Bodrum Airport, the installation of the systems at Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport will be carried out by Solar Roof Installation Services.
Will reduce carbon emissions
The project, which will be implemented at Milas-Bodrum Airport, aims to produce approximately 10 million kWh of electricity annually with 11,280 Topcon technology solar panels, each with a power of 590Wp. The solar car park systems project, which will have a total installed power of 6.65 MWp with an installation area of approximately 50 thousand square meters, aims to produce green electricity equivalent to the electricity consumption of approximately 2,636 households annually, while preventing 4,138 tons of carbon emissions.
A solar power plant with a total capacity of 5.88 MWp will be installed on the roofs of the indoor parking lot and outdoor parking areas of Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport with 9801 Topcon technology solar panels, each with a power of 600Wp. The project will spread over an area of approximately 50 thousand square meters. The aim is to produce approximately 9 million kWh of electricity annually with the systems to be installed. The project aims to produce green electricity equivalent to the electricity consumption of approximately 2,372 households annually, while preventing 3,724 tons of carbon emissions.
