Hakan Çalhanoğlu: "We will see what the future brings"

Hakan Çalhanoğlu: "We will see what the future brings"

There is a crisis between the national football player Hakan Çalhanoğlu, who was unable to play in the matches played by the Italian team Inter in the FIFA Club World Cup held in the USA due to an injury, and the team. Çalhanoğlu shared a post on his social media account after the statements of his teammates and the president were published in the press. The national football player said, "After the injury I suffered in the Champions League final, we still decided to go to America with the team. Being there, supporting the team even though I couldn't play, was very important to me. Unfortunately, I suffered a new injury in a completely different area during a training session in the USA. The diagnosis: muscle tear. This injury made it impossible for me to be on the field throughout the tournament. There is no other reason why I wasn't there. There is nothing else in the background. We lost yesterday and it hurt me. I was upset not only as a football player, but as someone who really cares about my team. Even though I am injured right now, I called a few of my teammates right after the match to give them morale. Because when you really care, you have to do that. What really surprised me were the words said afterwards. They were harsh words. They were divisive, not unifying. I have never looked for excuses throughout my career. I have always taken responsibility. I have also played through pain. I have always been on the front lines in difficult moments. I have spoken with actions, not words.

I respect every opinion - especially that of a teammate or my president. But respect is not one-sided. I have always shown respect on and off the pitch. And I believe that in football and in life, real power is to show respect, especially when emotions are high. I have never betrayed this club. I have never said that I was unhappy at Inter. There have been offers in the past - very tempting ones. But I stayed. Because I know what this jersey means to me. And I believe that I have shown it clearly with my actions. I have had the honour of wearing the captain's armband of my country. And I have learned that leadership is not about pointing fingers at the easiest moments, but about standing by your team. I love this game. I love this club. And I love these colours that I fight for every day. We will see what the future brings. But history always remembers those who stand tall. Not those who make the most noise.
