Zelenskyy announced: Ukraine will receive 150 Gripen fighter jets from Sweden

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the signing of an agreement with Sweden for the supply of 150 JAS-39 Gripen fighter jets to strengthen the country's air force. Zelenskyy stated on his Telegram account, "Ukraine will significantly increase its air power together with Sweden. We have reached an agreement on the Gripen fighter jets. We expect 150 Gripen aircraft for Ukraine and hope to make the first deliveries next year."

Details of the agreement were finalized Wednesday following the signing of a letter of intent by Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson and Zelenskiy. Kristersson stated that the agreement covers 100 to 150 aircraft, with first deliveries expected within three years, around 2026.
The Gripen E series fighter jets are a multi-role, 4+ generation combat platform produced by Saab. The Gripen, distinguished by its high maneuverability, low maintenance costs, and NATO-compliant electronic warfare systems, is considered an alternative or complementary option to the F-16 program in Ukraine's air defenses.
