3 songs from London Morning to boost your playlist

3 songs from London Morning to boost your playlist

London Morning's associate producer, Ryan Soulliere, listens to a lot of music for his role picking tunes for the show. In any given week, that's about 25 songs. Here are his top three local and Canadian picks from last week.

The Human Rights - Roxham Road

Fans of traditional reggae music will appreciate The Human Rights, not just for their sound but also their lyrical content. Roxham Road is a tune from their recently released album One People. The song is about a real road that joins New York State to Quebec and was traveled by asylum seekers since the 19th century. This mid-tempo, mellow jam is a great song for relaxing or starting your weekend morning.

J.P. Cormier - Us

J.P. Cormier's Us is on theme as the country makes their choice at the ballot box on April 28th. Us is an acoustic guitar driven roots-folk song that urges us to reflect on all humanity, suggesting we all have more in common than not. Like most J.P. Cormier songs, Us is very easy on the ears and well worth a listen. The political undertones in Us are subtle, allowing you to hone in on Cormier's warm vocals. Try Us anytime. It will make a great weekend daystarter that will set a positive tone for the day. Caution: there is one expletive in the song.

Pot Is Drugs - How To Talk To Girls

Compared to the last two songs, this one will put gears into overdrive. London's Pot Is Drugs is a relatively new band on the local music scene who formed through Fanshawe College's music and industry arts program. Fans of grunge and indie rock will feel right at home with this sound as How To Talk To Girls is an anthem that will get you moving. Heavy, but not too fast, How To Talk To Girls will fit perfectly on your next party mix.
