Met Office issues fresh 33-hour yellow weather warning for three UK regions

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning to three UK regions. The 33-hour alert for rain has been slapped on the Scottish areas of Strathclyde, Highlands & Eilean Siar, and Central, Tayside & Fife.

It is in place from 6am on Friday, July 4 until 3pm on Saturday, July 5. Forecasters are warning that "persistent, heavy rain" over the weekend "will bring difficult travel conditions and possible flooding in places". The alert adds: "Rain is expected to be persistent, and heavy at times, during much of Friday and overnight, before slowly easing later on Saturday. 40 to 60 mm rain is expected to build up quite widely with in excess of 100 mm over a few mountains. Rain will be accompanied by windy conditions, especially Friday daytime when gusts will reach 40 to 50 mph around coasts and hills."

The weather warning come days after the UK experienced one of the hottest days so far this year with the temperature levels soaring to 34.7C in London on Tuesday.
