Nearly $44M in cocaine seized from trucks coming into Canada at Blue Water Bridge

Border guards in Canada made two big cocaine seizures on consecutive days in Sarnia, Ont., last month.

Officers say they recovered 150 kilograms of the drug inside six boxes from a transport truck coming from the U.S. on Aug. 13 during secondary inspection. The estimated street value is $18.8 million.

A 28-year-old man from Brampton was handed over to the RCMP.

The next day, Aug. 14, the Canada Border Services Agency says 199 kilograms of cocaine hidden inside containers was located in the trailer of a commercial load with an estimated value of $24.9 million.

That truck was also en route from America.

A 38-year-old man from Etobicoke was also transferred to Canadian authorities.

Both men have been charged with drug trafficking-related offences.
