New York shooting: Active shooter on loose as 7 gunned down

Seven people have been injured in a shooting in New York City as the police continue to search for the suspect. The incident happened in Brooklyn just before 3.30am local time today. Emergency services were seen surrounding the Crown Heights area after multiple reports of gunfire. Seven people were found shortly after at 903 Franklin Ave who were injured with gunshot wounds, The Sun reports.
The victims were immediately taken to local hospitals, police confirmed, yet their conditions remain unknown. The New York Police Department confirmed that no arrests have been made yet, and the investigation is ongoing. The local authority is also urging residents to avoid the area while investigations take place.
Witnesses wrote on social media that a police cordon had been put in place and "crime tape stretched for blocks".
The city's emergency management office has issued an alert warning of traffic delays, road closures, mass transit disruptions, and a heavy emergency personnel presence near Franklin Avenue and President Street.
