Royal Family LIVE: Meghan Markle hit by new allegations as expert issues verdict
Meghan Markle has been accused of using Prince Harry as a "stepping stone" to fame by a royal expert after new allegations about the duchess were made this week. Royal biographer Sally Bedell Smith recently revealed that Meghan, who quit life with Prince Harry in 2020, caused some concern for Queen Elizabeth II before her and Harry's 2018 wedding, and was seen as bossy.
Bedell Smith also said that conversations she had with the late Queen's cousin Lady Elizabeth Anson, who called Her Majesty almost daily, revealed that the former monarch had been upset by Meghan at times, especially when the duchess and Harry were "rude" to her in 2018 before their wedding. This is believed to have caused a rift between Harry, 40, and his grandmother.
Now, a royal biographer believes that these allegations are true, as Phil Dampier told The Sun's Royal Exclusive show: "I think, unfortunately, that confirms what I've been saying or thought for the last few years that, sadly, Meghan never really had any intention of staying in the royal family.
"She saw as a stepping stone getting married to Harry to new fame and fortune. And I think that's what initially Prince William was concerned about. And that's why they fell out. And now we are where we are. But to have this confirmed by somebody so close to the Queen, is really dynamite."
Since quitting royal life five years ago, Meghan and Harry have lived in Montecito, California.
