A former RAF base has been converted into Europe's largest antique centre with thousands of items displayed in four large buildings and heading there could be your best antiques road trip ever.

Hemswell, a tiny village of around 300 inhabitants, is situated in the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, about 2 miles west of Caenby Corner, 7 miles east of Gainsborough and just under 15 miles north of Lincoln.

And the Hemswell Antique centre is the village's major attraction offering a wide variety of antiques and vintage items.

The village also has two lovely coffee shops, ample free parking and a warm and friendly atmosphere so a perfect place to spend a memorable day and the Hemswell Antique Centre is open on Bank Holidays too.

There are literally thousands of antiques and collectables to peruse at your leisure with each building featuring an unrivalled choice of beautiful high quality goods from different centuries, every historical period and style and from all over the world.

As you wander through the four buildings of treasures you will travel through the period furniture of the Georgian era to the elegance of the Regency age before experiencing the simpler but hugely popular and currently fashionable designs of the Arts and Crafts movement.

Onwards into the 20th century you can enjoy the end of the Art Nouveau movement before welcoming the age of Art Deco, before arriving at pieces by Midwinter and Whitefriars that epitomise mid-century design. Finally, as items from the 21st century head towards being classified as vintage, you will find some more contemporary items too.

Smaller items include advertising collectables, antique coins and stamps, clocks, vintage toys and games, clothes, and even taxidermy.

The Centres also house a sizeable variety of ceramics and glass from early Staffordshire pottery, oriental porcelain and Victorian glass through to collectable 20th Century ceramics and glass, quality silver ware and jewellery.

There is an excellent choice of decorative items, including oriental rugs, throws, curtains, scatter cushions, lamp shades, and tapestries are always available, and beautifully displayed.
