This African country is ‘better and cheaper' than Turkey, Spain, Portugal - 3 reasons why

Brits are always keen to get as much as they can for their money when taking a much needed break abroad. Some popular foreign destinations that have emerged over recent decades are in Europe, such as Spain, Portugal and Turkey. However, one traveller has suggested that one beautiful country across the Mediterranean Sea in Africa is cheaper and better than these well visited places. Egypt has been hailed by agnew_travels on TikTok as "now the place to be for holidays" with it being "far cheaper" than Spain and Portugal.
In a video posted earlier this month, he said: "Reason number one is the people, that's probably the most important. The people in Turkey do not leave you alone. Constant nagging, constant pressuring you into buying stuff, and just, whenever you're out having a look at things, whenever you go inside, you almost feel bad if you don't purchase something. A lot of the men that stand in front of shops in Turkey, Marmaris, İçmeler and all these kind of places, and Antalya.
"Nice places, don't get me wrong. But the people there just ruin it."
He added: "The second reason is the food. The quality of the food in Turkey is not up to standard with the pricing that they're charging people, especially in all inclusive hotels."
This feedback the TikToker has received from some people he knows recently, who told him their grub was "just not up to standard".
"In Egypt, I've never had a problem with the food, and it's a lot cheaper," he added.
Finally, the third reason cited by agnew_travels is the "most important" - "the price of stuff".
"It is so much cheaper than Turkey. So much cheaper. Turkey is just extortionate with pricing, with excusions, with eating out, with drinking out, everything is just so expensive in Turkey.
"Egypt, it's very, very mangeable and it's very cost-efficient."
But some viewers disagree with what he had to say, with one person commenting: "Did he really just say that the food in Egypt is better than in Turkey? Now I have seen everything."
A different account said: "Are you joking? I couldn’t walk two metres in Sharm El-Sheik without getting hassled to buy stuff.
"Well, well worse than Antalya, and the food was well worse as well."
It sees that Spain and Potugal is still go to locations for UK tourists, with Kayak listing Faro, Malaga, Alicante and Barcelona amongst its "most searched destinations this summer".
