Salaries in the UK vary greatly by region - but how does yours compare? According to job search site Adzuna, there has been salary growth in recent times. On average, advertised salaries have continued to climb, reaching £42,264 - up 8.76% in the past year.

Some regions have seen bigger increases than others, with Northern Ireland recording a 14.3% annual jump. Despite the positive news for salaries, there has also been a drop in entry-level vacancies which have fallen to their lowest in five years, Sky News reports.

Andrew Hunter, co-founder of Adzuna, said: “After a hopeful uptick in June, July saw the pendulum swing back with vacancies falling again.

“While salary growth remains one of the few consistent positives - continuing to outpace inflation - hiring appetite is clearly uneven.”

The richest regions are London, followed by Eastern England and then Northern Ireland.

By comparison, the poorest region is Wales.

According to Statista, in 2024, the average salary for full-time workers in the UK was £37,430 British pounds a year, up from £34,963 in the previous year.

What Jobs says that in 2025, the UK’s median annual salary for full-time employees stands at £37,430, with the overall median salary at £31,602.

It adds: “This reflects an upward trend in wage growth, continuing from 2023 and 2024, where salaries grew by approximately 4.8% annually.

“Meanwhile, average weekly earnings have risen to £728, marking a 6% increase over the previous year.

“However, when adjusted for inflation - which hovers around 3.8% - real wage growth has been modest at about 2.1%.”
