Snack bars sold in Lidl have been recalled over the “potential presence of plastic foreign bodies”. Customers were warned not to eat four types of Alesto Raw Fruit & Nut Bars which may contain plastic, making them unsafe to eat.

A recall notice issued by the Food Standards Agency said: “If you have bought any of the above products do not consume them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund.”

The affected products all have best before dates of December 2025 with the batch code L24337, or November 2025 with the batch code L24316.

The recall applies to four types of snack bar:

  • Alesto Cocoa & Orange 5 Raw Fruit & Nut Bars
  • Alesto Blueberry Muffin 5 Raw Fruit & Nut Bars
  • Alesto Salted Caramel 5 Raw Fruit & Nut Bars
  • Alesto Berry 5 Raw Fruit & Nut Bars

A notice shared by Lidl GB added: "We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation."

Food recalls due to plastic are not uncommon. In March, Iceland recalled packs of vegetable lasagne due to fears they may contain hard pieces of plastic.

Although plastic is typically used to package ready meals, some types contain chemicals that can contaminate food when heated

Large pieces of plastic may also present a choking hazard, particularly for children.
