Stephen King says Donald Trump is 'basically an idiot' and 'dangerous' for one reason

Stephen King, the celebrated horror novelist, has never shied away from sharing his opinions about Donald Trump, even when facing boycott threats for joking about the former President.
The author has consistently voiced his stance on the current administration and continues to do so without reservation.
Despite receiving criticism for his contentious quip, King remains steadfast in his disapproval of Trump's policies since his January return to the presidency. The news comes as firefighters sound alarm over Donald Trump state visit after strain on crews.
King's remarks emerge alongside reports suggesting Trump's 'mental decline' is being driven by two crucial elements.

Chatting with presenter Ali Velshi, King admitted that one particular aspect of Trump genuinely frightens him about what lies ahead, according to the Mirror US.
"The worst thing that I could think of is that this guy would get a third term because he's basically an idiot, isn't he?" he declared.
"I mean, he doesn't read."

King then disclosed what he finds most alarming about Trump - his conviction that he's incapable of wrongdoing, calling it a "dangerous" characteristic for any President.
"That is a dangerous thing," he emphasised.
"He is basically, I don't want to use the word 'crazy,' because I don't really think that he is, but he's certainly dangerous."
King had previously pondered what conclusion he would craft for the Trump presidency if it were his narrative to pen, suggesting that impeachment would be the sole fitting finale.
"I would love to see him retired, let's put it that way," he proclaimed. "The bad ending would be that he gets a third term and takes things over completely. It's a horror story either way. Trump is a horror story, isn't he?".
This latest remark from King comes after he was branded "racist" over a quip he posted about Trump on social media back in May.
He had taken to Instagram to share a gag: "Why did Donald J. Trump cross the road? To see Haitians eating pets on the other side."

The wisecrack referenced a claim the President made during his campaign that Haitian migrants in Springfield, Ohio, were devouring local residents' pet cats and dogs. Despite encountering criticism, both he and Vice President JD Vance, who originates from the state, maintained their stance on these allegations.
After facing a storm of criticism for his joke, with accusations of racism flying, King returned to the platform to hit back at his detractors, insisting his gag targeted Trump, not the immigrants.
"The joke was about Trump. If you don't get that, you should see a doctor and get your sense of humour checked," he fired back at the time.
He subsequently issued another statement tackling other controversial false assertions made throughout the campaign. "Anyone else notice how all of a sudden no one's eating our cats and dogs anymore? No one's performing sex change operations in schools or aborting babies after birth anymore," he wrote.
"The price of eggs doesn't matter and a recession isn't a bad thing, it's just a necessary growing pain."
