Amazon Web Services down LIVE: Alexa, Lloyds, Snapchat, Fortnite and more affected

Ring, the company behind Ring Doorbells, has also been affected, with customers saying they have been unable to connect to the cameras in their houses.
"My Ring doorbell app is down meaning I can't see outside my house, definitely scary in case I miss something outside!" one told Sky News.
"Ring doorbell not working for nine hours - I use it to monitor my 90-year-old father," another said.
A third wrote on X: "Ring doorbell/cameras not working for 13hrs, I can’t view history on the app & can’t sign in on the website…"
The major downside to this is that when services like AWS go offline or experience issues, the businesses affected are largely powerless.
Snapchat, the wildly popular messaging app, is affected, and Snapchat itself can likely do nothing to remedy this.
It’ll have to wait until AWS services are fixed.
Lloyds, Halifax and Bank of Scotland appear to have all been affected by an outage, with many of their customers reporting issues accessing their online services.
X's owner, Elon Musk, has shared a smug update on his profile, which has not experienced any of Monday's issues so far.

Over 7,000 people have reported issues with Snapchat on Down Detector.
Disruption affecting Amazon Web Services has led to a spike in reported outages across a wide range of internet services including for HMRC, Zoom and Snapchat.
Downdetector, a website which tracks complaints about online services, showed a spike in reports on Monday morning, including more than 2,681 at Amazon Web Services (AWS) and 500 reports of issues for the HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) website by 9am.
Other services showing a spike in reported outages included Slack, Ring, Vodafone, Signal, Halifax, BT, EE and Sky.
A service health update by AWS posted at 9.26am on Monday said: “We can confirm significant error rates for requests made to the DynamoDB endpoint in the US-EAST-1 Region.
“This issue also affects other AWS Services in the US-EAST-1 Region as well. During this time, customers may be unable to create or update Support Cases.
“Engineers were immediately engaged and are actively working on both mitigating the issue, and fully understanding the root cause.”
The update said its Amazon DynamoDB database service had been “disrupted” and 20 other services had been “impacted” including Amazon CloudFront, AWS Config and AWS Security Token Service.
AWS is the world’s largest cloud computing provider and offers a wide variety of services, including storage, databases, machine learning, and security tools.
Many of the websites affected by the outage are displaying error messages, including banking websites like Halifax and Lloyds Bank, Government Gateway, Amazon and Playstation.

Coinbase - the world's biggest bitcoin custodian and the largest US-based cryptocurrency exchange - has told customers that "all funds are safe" during Monday's outages.
"Our team is working on the issue and we'll provide updates here," it wrote in a statement on X.

The AWS outage is reportedly related to a specific facility in northern Virginia, America, but causing problems for people across the globe.
AWS has a massive presence in orthern Virginia, particularly in the "data centre alley" of Loudoun County, with numerous data centre in locations like Ashburn and Reston.
The region is a major hub for AWS's cloud services.
Amazon Web Services said that it was being affected by "increased error rates and latencies for multiple AWS Services in the US-EAST-1 Region".
It said engineers were "immediately engaged and are actively working on both mitigating the issue, and fully understanding the root cause".
Broadband provider TalkTalk has issued an update on the AWS outage, which has caused its banking, gaming, and social websites to crash.
We're aware that some banking, gaming, and social websites may not be available right now. This is due to an outage with Amazon Web Services who provide server access to these websites.

The CEO of Perplexity, a free AI-powered answer engine, has issued a statement on X.

Users trying to access Amazon's website have been met with a message reading: "Sorry something went wrong on our end. Please go back and try again or go to Amazon's home page."
A former Amazon delivery driver wrote on X that he and his colleagues "cannot check in or move any product and trailers across the country" amid the tech issues.
Based in America, Jorge Ortega said these issues have been reported in Georgia and Southern California.
Amazon has officially acknowledged the problem on its AWS service status page, indicating an operational issue with a severity named as "disrupted".

An increasing number of apps and websites are experiencing issues, according to Down Detector.
People have reported problems across 48 different platforms.

Photo editing software Canva is down, with a message on its website reading: "We are currently experiencing significantly increased error rates which are impacting functionality on Canva.
"Our team is actively investigating the issue and working to restore full access as quickly as possible."
At least 48 platforms have reported issues due to the AWS outage, according to Down Detector.
This includes: Snapchat, Ring, Roblox, Clash Royale, Life360, My Fitness Pal, Xero, Canva, Amazon, Amazon Web Services, Amazon Music, Prime Video, Clash of Clans, Fortnite, Wordle, Duolingo, Coinbase, HMRC, Vodafone, Playstation, and Pokémon Go.
Amazon has issued an update on its service status website.
Users have been met with a message reading: "We are investigating increased error rates and latencies for multiple AWS services in the US-EAST-1 Region. We'll provide another update in the next 30-45 minutes."
