Virgin Media will give you a free iPad this weekend - how to claim yours now

If you want to kill two birds with one stone and upgrade your home broadband, TV and mobile package while also picking up a brand new iPad, this limited-time deal from Virgin Media might be worth considering. The broadband provider is offering all new customers a free Apple iPad when they sign up to the firm’s 18-month Mega Volt bundle, which currently includes double the usual broadband speed.
This deal costs £88.99 per month, which is fairly steep, but it does include an awful lot. The free iPads will be sent out while stocks last, according to Virgin Media.
With this bundle you get Virgin Media’s Gig1 Fibre Broadband with a 1130Mbps average download speed, more than 230 TV channels through Sky TV, which includes the premium Sky Sports HD and Sky Cinema HD channels. You also get Netflix’s Standard with ads tier included, and an Unlimited O2 SIM card.
Signing up also nets you a free iPad, which is a nice perk if you are in need of a new tablet. It’s worth noting this isn’t the latest model though, with Virgin giving away the 9th-gen iPad with 64GB storage.
This tablet was launched in 2020, so it’s five years old at this stage. It’ll be fine for watching TV and Netflix, playing basic games, watching YouTube, surfing the web and running emails, but it’s a little long in the tooth now. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend you buy this model iPad in 2025, but as a free gift as part of this bundle, it’s a solid freebie. I actually own this very iPad, albeit with more storage, and it still serves my basic needs well.
Just remember 64GB is not a lot of storage, so this will have to act as a streaming or browsing device - it’s not going to hold all your video, photo or music files. But this is the cellular version of the iPad, so it has a SIM slot. You could put the O2 SIM card in there and use the iPad with a data connection, rather than being limited to Wi-Fi.
But also consider if you can afford £88.99 per month. This is £73.99 per month for the broadband and TV package, plus an extra £15 per month for the O2 SIM card with unlimited calls, texts and data.
You also need to be aware that Virgin says the monthly price will rise to £94.29 from April 2026.
You do get several ‘Volt benefits’ from this all-in-one plan, though. As Virgin lists:
- Boosted broadband speeds
- Double data on every eligible O2 Pay Monthly plan in your household
- WiFi guarantee, plus up to three WiFi Pods if needed, on us
- Roam freely in 75 destinations with O2 Travel Inclusive Zone
- Exclusive rewards and experiences with Priority from O2
You can also pick an extra from O2 for six months on selected TV, movie, books or audio services.
Be aware it’s possible to get a decent broadband service for much less per month than this bundle, and the price rise is relatively steep. Over the course of 18 months you’ll pay more than £1,500, so consider if this really is the right deal for you.
