ZUS President at EEC: We will be a pioneer in implementing artificial intelligence

- ZUS is testing the possibilities of using artificial intelligence in administration, focusing on the automation of decisions and support for medical certification.
- The President of the Company, Zbigniew Derdziuk, emphasized that the goal is to safely implement modern technologies, not to create them – ZUS wants to be a responsible pioneer, not an AI producer.
- We invite you to the second day of EEC 2025 , during which we will discuss many topics related to technologies and cybersecurity.
Zbigniew Derdziuk, during a discussion at the European Economic Congress, admitted that ZUS had begun its first activities aimed at examining the potential of artificial intelligence . He pointed out that exercises had been carried out with Bielik and PLLUM, in which they analyzed what AI could do for the institution.
Derdziuk revealed that 14 companies that offered solutions based on artificial intelligence – mainly bots – had also applied to cooperate with ZUS. However, he stressed that during the exercises conducted by the institution, these bots were often wrong. Despite this, he expressed optimism that in the future this technology will work much better.
The President of ZUS also announced that tests of the use of AI in medical certification are being conducted . He pointed out that due to the lack of doctors, tools supporting the assessment of work capacity are needed, and artificial intelligence could play an important role here.
He also indicated that the institution is waiting for the launch of a government cloud computing in Poland , which would enable more advanced analyses. He also drew attention to procedural barriers - for costs above PLN 120 thousand, it is necessary to announce a tender in accordance with the Public Procurement Law, which may result in inspections by the Supreme Audit Office and the Central Anticorruption Bureau.
The ZUS President noted that the Institution does not create AI, but tests it. He assured that the institution wants to be a pioneer in implementing artificial intelligence – not its creator, but a responsible user.
