Dow up after Fed decision, Nasdaq downThe U.S. Federal Reserve's interest rate decision on Wednesday jolted the Dow Jones Industrials out of its recent lethargy and pushed it to a record high. Investors reacted with relief that the Fed, as expected, had cut its key interest rate by 0.25 percentage points for the first time in about nine months.
However, the future path of interest rates remains unclear, even after the additional monetary policy statements from the central bank and the remarks by Fed Chairman Jerome Powell at the press conference.
